Reality check on aisle 3...

After a bruising couple of weeks and no relief on the horizon we were amazed to read this.

Forget Russia.

Forget all the lurid scandals.

Even putting aside collusion and obstruction of justice

Tariffs are ripping apart the heartland and farmers are having to take bailouts!

Other businesses are just being left to their own devices to sink or swim.

There is no wall.

Prices are rising.

This is everything Trump voters were against.

This is everything they were angry about.

So where is this coming from?????

Will someone please explain this to me?

And back then we all thought this was just hyperbole.

Where are we again?

                                        (baby Noodle archives)

I've often heard people say that they voted for Donald Trump because they wanted to shake things up.

Well, congratulations you've succeeded.

But could you please get him to stop shaking things up now!

Because no matter what started out as shaking things up, has now lead to just plain broken.

And now, I do not recognize this place where I live anymore.

Our president just spent over two hours ALONE with Vladimir Putin.

We may never know what was said.

Now we learn that Putin has been invited to the White House in a few months.

Every morning I wake and wonder what's next....

I used to be sure we were the country that said, "give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free".

I was sure we were a country of the first amendment  and that, that included everyone.

I was sure we were a country that believed in separation of church and state.

I was sure we were a country who professed "all men are created equal".

I was sure we were a country who believed in freedom of the press. Where journalists were not targeted, bullied and threatened
.
A country where we had the right to peaceful protest.

A country where we had freedom of religion, ANY RELIGION.

Mostly I was sure we were a country where no one was above the law, NO ONE.

A country who's commander in chief would never disregard and slander our most staunch allies.

And most importantly, I was sure we were a country who would elect a president that would defend our own country over adversarial countries like Russia!

And under NO circumstances hand over American citizen's to a hostile adversary!

No, I do not recognize this place where I live anymore.

Do you?

Have a peaceful weekend...

Who?

*from Wikipedia

Single-party dictatorships[edit]

Single-party dictatorships are regimes in which one party dominates politics. In single-party dictatorships, a single party has access to political posts and control over policy. Other parties may legally exist, compete in elections, and even hold legislative seats, yet true political power lies with the dominant party. In single-party dictatorships, party elites are typically members of the ruling body of the party, sometimes called the central committee, or politburo. This group of individuals controls the selection of party officials and “organizes the distribution of benefits to supporters and mobilizes citizens to vote and show support for party leaders".[10]

Dictators;

Spending millions of dollars of tax payer money on personal travel, military parades and personal pleasures.

Discrediting the media as "fake news"

Singling out individuals and businesses that disagree with them.

Enslaving and detaining certain groups of people.

Eliminating rights and freedoms for certain groups.

Misleading and lying to the public.

Invoking censorship

Profiting monetarily and otherwise from their position in office.

Belittling and chastising branches of the government that don't agree with them or do what they would like.

To further understand the characteristic's of a dictator read the article from Psychology Today

And no....

actually I was referring to these 49 dictators, but I see why you might have thought I was talking about someone else.

Betting the farm...

What do lobsters, nails, apples, motorcycle's, and milk have in common?

Tariffs that's what.

I get it, if you look at the job numbers right now and the economy, well, it all looks rosy.

But, and this is a big but, we are standing on the precipice.

All the Jenga blocks have been removed that could hold us up and here comes that big but all that needs to happen is for someone to remove that one little block and... hold on honey it's going to get mighty dicey out there.

Those who believe in this president think he's a great business man and that the tariffs may hurt them momentarily but in the end they'll come out better.

I wish I knew what they were basing their assumptions on other than Trumps rhetoric.

Statistically, looking at his business record you couldn't pick a worse example.

I heard an interview with a farmer who is losing buckets of money as well as contracts he negotiated with other companies that took three years to put in place, ( 3 years!) and he still believes Trump knows what he's doing and will follow him to the end.

Even though I think the people who think this way are bringing forth their own doom, I can't help but feel sorry for them.

People all over the country are making horrific decisions against their own best interests whether it be health care or Social Security or tariffs and holding on to a misguided faith in someone who really doesn't care about them at all.

All he needs is for them to show up at his rallies and chant "USA, USA, USA" and "build the wall"
which by the way although Trump assures his followers is being built IT IS NOT!

The sad thing is that once he doesn't need them anymore because he's not running or he's ousted from his presidency, what will happen then?

When they have literally bet the farm and lost it...

Have a wonderful weekend!
