                           WORDLESS WEDNESDAY...

                                                          Something to think about...

                                                                  Wolf in captivity

What are your thoughts on captive animals?

Happy Wednesday!

  1. That mades us very sad. We don't know which is worse, being captive or being hurt needlessly.

  2. We hate to think of animals in captivity. Some are well-cared for but many aren't.

  3. My first thought is negative on animals in captivity, because that's not where wild animals belong. On the flip side, I recognize that we're killing so many species due to our encroachment into their territory, and that we've really mucked up Mother Earth. So some (many?) species won't survive except in captivity. It's a tough situation and there aren't any black and white solutions, IMO. Animals *bred and raised* in captivity can provide an opportunity to educate the younger generations as well.

But still, it's hard to see. I so hate the human idea that we're somehow superior to other Beings. It's my opinion that our species is dominant on the earth *at this time*, but not superior to any other Being.

    I don't think that's a widely-held belief, though.

  4. What a beauty. But a pity that it's behind bars.

  5. No no no unless to help endangered species with a breeding program. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  6. Only if they're injured. Animals should be free. Except for cats, who need beds and pillows, and those are only inside so they have to be inside, too. Otherwise, NO.

  7. It's a tough topic that I'm torn on. I think it just depends on the circumstances. A wild caught wolf in captivity is not cool though.

  8. It depends - if they are wildlife rescues - then it is OK. I read somewhere there are more tigers in zoos then in the wild. So I guess that's good meaning that if we didn't have any in captivity, they would really be extinct. Very sad.

  9. captivity for health and or humane reasons...yes.....

one of my favorite organizations is big cat rescue. these cats are in "captivity" but only because they were "rescued" in the first place; sadly they should not have needed "rescuing" from the get go, but now they all are living the best possible life they can lead...
