                        It's Anything Can Happen Thursday!
Yep, we are stealing a line right out of The Big Bang Theory. We will be talking about all kinds of things from week to week...anything can happen!

We want to weigh in on Starbucks campaign to Race Together;,  we are after all coming to you from Seattle, the home of Starbucks so....

Here's the deal, Howard Schultz the CEO of Starbucks is trying to start a dialog about race relations; by having baristas broach the subject by writing "race together" on customers cups. The initial response has been mostly tweets and comments as to what a stupid idea this is or
"what on earth were you thinking?" Here's the thing...this might not have been the most thought out of ways to engage the public in talking about race and racism but... what is? If someone somewhere doesn't start a broader conversation then don't we end up right where we were? I get it, people buying their coffee may be in a hurry, they may not want to talk about race or anything else for that matter but if someone somewhere doesn't take a hit for trying, then nothing ever gets done and we will all be sitting around our local Starbucks bitching about that.. I say kudos to Mr. Schultz for stepping up, at least he's trying which is more than anybody else seems to be doing, including his critics.
Of course this isn't the answer to race relations! But it's a baby step and that is where you have to start sometimes... and let's face it, he did get you talking didn't he?!

Have a super weekend...

Noodle and crew

  1. We think making people think about such things or at least try can't be bad. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. Well mommy luvs hers coffee, but has nevew had a stawbucks coffee. We wecently got a stowe in da city 'bout 45 minutes away, but she's nevew been. She sez it's not in da budget. And we guess those dat can afford it be in a hurry. We didn't get it till yous told us what it meant. Not sure how it shuld be dun cuz we ink da biases awe kinda weversed at this point.

  3. I hadn’t heard about this but think it’s a step in the right direction. We don’t have one around the house so TW doesn’t really know if they actually follow that lead when hiring and paying livable wages. Hopefully, they do hire all races and they “race together."

  4. things need to be shaken up with a conversation.
    Coffee is on

  5. Hey, talking is always a good thing Noodle!

  6. I haven't heard about it yet Noodle. Sounds like an interesting idea, and I like your thoughts about it. Maybe people should slow down and have more time to talk about stuff. Even making someone just think about it for one second is OK too.

  7. We thinks while this may not be the best idea for solving the problem of race relations at least he is acknowledging there is a problem and trying to get a dialogue started.

  8. Starbucks is nuts......just give me my damned coffee...while I think improving race relations is ALWAYS a good thing...I think Starbucks is not the proper forum...people running in getting their coffee just want their coffee..........I think someone, somewhere can come up with a much better platform. I say, just remember..."do unto others"........that's it.

  9. Actually I thought it meant they wanted us all to be in a race for charity. Thank you for clarifying. I agree, it is a start.

  10. noodle...

  12. Well, we don't know what to think about this. You're right,'s a start...and we guess that's something. Though the mom has never liked Starbuck's coffee so she won't be getting a cup with racetogether written on it. ;)

  13. We had to come and comment. This is contentious issue (sadly) and we believe this is a good idea. Of COURSE there will be those who hate/dislike/patronise/hiss at it BUT we think if everyone did something positive - instead of shouting the guy down the world would be 100% more happy and positive - or we can hope so.
