Is it time yet?

The shooter in LasVegas;.
He was white.
He was not a radical Islamic terrorist.
killed 58, wounded 546. at a concert

The shooter in Alexandria, Virginia;
He was white
He was not a radical Islamic terrorist
Severely wounded 6 one being a member of congress while playing base ball in a park.

The shooter in Sandy Hook; .
He was white.
He was not a radical Islamic terrorist
killed 26 in a school 20 of which were 6 year old children.

The shooter in Aurora, Colorado;
He was white
He was not a radical Islamic terrorist
killed 12 and wounded 70 in a movie theater

The shooter on Sunday in Texas;
He was white.
He was not a radical Islamic terrorist
killed 28 half of which were children in a church

Mr.Trumps wall and his travel ban would not have had a thing in the world to do with stopping the carnage in all of these incidents.

So, okay not radical Islamic terrorists...

"No, but they were all crazy people"!
Okay, why then was one of the only pieces of legislation passed by this administration, to make it easier for anyone who is mentally ill to own a gun?

How did that help? Well, it didn't!

There are those who will continue to argue the second amendment when it comes to any type of gun registration, sales through the Internet and gun show loop holes.
They will argue their second amendment rights when it comes to automatic weapons and bump stocks and 100 round magazines.
This is a very small percentage of the American public that are condemning the rest of the country to being hostage to the increasing threat of just going about their daily lives.

I hear people say ,"there are more good people with guns out there than there are bad ones".
What happens when all the bad guys with so many guns and rounds of ammunition shoot all the good people who insist what we need is hugs and prayers but no gun reform?

Who's left?

Congress is so afraid of this group that they will not even bring gun ownership issues up for discussion.

In the past as now, they say; now is not the time...

Is it time yet?

Happy Veteran's Day.
Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. The second amendment is long overdue for an overhaul. Gone are the days of protection against the occasional outlaw or Indians or killing animals for survival!!! This is one of the best posts you have ever written, but who is reading? We must figure out how to reach, in their hearts and minds (and this is probably an impossibility, given the non-education about guns and what they do) those who think having a gun is a right, that we are entitled to have guns. There is NO crime like ours in other civilized countries with gun laws. I live in Europe, and everyone I have ever spoken to about this believes that Americans are irresponsible and dangerous and some are afraid to visit our beautiful country. We are viewed as ignorant and selfish people with no respect for others’ safety. Sad, but true. Perhaps in the next elections, the parents and friends of those who were murdered will think twice about those they vote for and what all politicians MUST do to curb this epidemic of murder.

  4. I wrote a very long comment and do not see it on your blog. The jist was that this post is fantastic, thak you, and that our second amendment should be rewritten. We no longer have the British (militias needed for protection), Indians or hunts for food for survival and the amendment is seriously outdated. And who reads your very astute posts about the horror of what guns to our society? Unfortunately, not the people who support these weapons of murder.

  7. It is long past time. I cannot understand the need to own a gun "just because". While they are so freely available it will never get better.
    The Second Amendment comes from the past and should be left there.

  8. Veterans fought with guns, for peace, not because they wanted to kill. Politicians allow death because they are cowards unlike those that served and sacrificed unlike those that died at the hands of legitimised gun ownership. There is no happy smiley face on death for the victims...

  12. Mom Kim here - not sure what the answer is but I KNOW something MUST happen sooner than later. I'm tired of hearing all the gun rights people yelling about THEIR second admendment rights. Does that automatically diminish/do away with MY right to walk down the street and not worry if I will be the next victim in a mass gun shooting? Where's MY right to go to the shopping mall and not gaze with darting looks around for the next gunman to shoot up a mall? While our government was "waiting for a better time" to discuss what had happened in Las Vegas, look what happened in Sutherland, Texas. And in the meantime, our president who made the campaign promise to reduce gun violence, is out of the country on an extended multi-country visit. Gun violence has done nothing but escalated since Trump took office. No, I don't know exactly what gun control or whatever it will be will look like here in the US - but then I don't get paid the big bucks to figure it out but yes, I do know that IT'S TIME!

    By the way, a most excellent post. I'm just sorry all those facts were available - the sad thing is that unless something is done ASAP, there will be more.

  13. We think Americans are all insane for allowing people to carry guns. The loss of so many lives is wicked, wrong and totally nuts.

    The their stupid guns away. Let them whine.

    Have a good Sunday and a safe one.

  15. You are so adorably cute Noodle. As fur guns, we purrmote our second ammendment right. Da purroblem is not da laws. Bad peeps don't follow da laws anyways, They're always gonna be able to get a gun no matter da laws. Dat's what Dems don't seem to unnerstand. Big hugs

    Luv ya'

  19. That's what we in Europe can't understand that you can buy a gun like a piece of chocolate ! We have very strict gun laws, policemen are not even allowed to take their gun home, they have to leave it in the office.
