real news...

"Good night and good luck". Edward R. Murrow

"And that's the way it is".  Walter Cronkite

We grew up with journalists who actually reported the news.

Not talking points and talking heads, but real verified factual news.

We were reminded of this while re-watching the movie Good Night and Good Luck

We miss journalism and we miss great journalists.

Mind you, this is not about fake news or an incitement of the media, there are good even great journalists out there today reporting real facts.

But watching the closing scenes from this movie, three things came to mind...

First how eerily similar the McCarthy Hearings sound to what is going on today. We need to heed the warnings of those who fought against and survived the events like the McCarthy era.

In the coming months we will  be tested as we navigate the hearings and fall out of todays  Impeachment hearings..

Second, if you just substitute the word Internet for television or box with lights, you could be talking about today.

And lastly, it reminds us of journalism that once was and what it could be again if only we have the courage to demand it.

  3. Love this Noodle. Pepe need to look beyond themselves to their wider world and the people around them. 'Good' luck is the right phrase I think.
