Sunday Selfie with history lesson...

If you were thinking that politics has sunk to a new low lets take a trip back in time and learn all about the know-nothing party spoiler alert this is partially how the Republican Party came about.

Or you can watch this really great piece done by Rachel Maddow  know nothing movement that puts it in current perspective.

Noodle, that is interesting and highly pertinent history you brought us today. This politics is highly visible in the US, no doubt, but sadly it is also true of the scene world-wide... when people feel adrift, politically, the lowest common denominator swells in faux importance. Thus, as the Chinese would have it, we are ever fated to live in 'interesting times'... Blessings of the week to you dear one. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

  8. American people don't know much about their own history. They just know bout what it is in their lifetimes (and barely).

For much of US history, there has been swings between welcoming immigrants and not welcoming them. It has sort of been, nice to have you work bad jobs and don't bother us.

But the general rule has been, 1st generation stays like at country of origin, 2nd generation speaks both parent's language, 3rd generation is assimilated and Americanized.

    If that continues, that's good.
