Maybe We Need Some Words Wednesday....

Okay, now that we all remember how adorable I was as a baby Noodle...

I know it's supposed to be wordless Wednesday and you are all looking forward to my cute little face today but it seemed like it was inappropriate to leave it at that, this week especially.
I think we all need to use our words and restart ( or start ) a conversation in the wake of the tragadees last week and all those that have preceeded them.

I saw this tweet somewhere on the interwebbie;

If you are white, you really can't know what the above feels like.
I am white.
I am one of those people who decries racism and will swear up and down and all the way home that I would never have an inappropriate thought or response to anyone's race.

As much as i'd like to believe that, I can't possibly know if something I have said or done seems racist or inappropriate to someone else. Some one who is not the same as me.
To say that I can is to say that I am somehow able to know what it's like to be someone else.
So let's cut the crap and get realistic.
Until we get out of the denial of our own ignorance on this subject we can't address it let alone fix it.

We, you, me we all need to be open to what others are feeling.
How what we do affects others.
Do unto others as we would have them do unto us.
Put ourselves in someone elses shoes and take a walk.
You bet it might be uncomfortable and the person putting themselves in my shoes or your shoes will be uncomfortable too.
But life is uncomfortable, that's how we know we are growing.

So, lets talk!
Talk to your friends but also strike up a conversation with people you don't usually talk to.
It's the only hope we have to change.

Have a wonderful Wednesday...

The Alternative Post...

In the wake of the events of the past week we were at a loss to find words to express what we were feeling.

We wrote long gut wrenching posts that in the end were just rambling sadness and  despair.
Perhaps it's cowardly, perhaps it's preservation of sanity but in the end we decided to go with a post we wrote prior to those events.
We will say that our hearts and prayers are with the people of Dallas, Louisiana and Minnesota and with anyone and everyone who has been in any way touched by these terrible tragedies.

Noodle's Saturday Sermon...

And they shall create a new and wondrous entity and it shall be called politics.

Behold for the day of election is drawing near.

And they will speak of e-mails and tweets and unreleased taxes.

Of untruths and hypocrisy and they will do it bigly.

The first signs shall appear when the subject of Benghazi has been depleted and left to fade from the

news cycle only to be replaced by an alternative conspiracy theory.

And Sanders will have left the building.

They will disregard the facts and supplant them with innuendo to further their agendas.

Yea though they walk through the valley of cable news and social media

they shall carry with them their laptops and universal remotes with which to blog and change the

channel, of which there are 894!

They will post on the hallowed Book of Face and although many will be liked they shall find no comfort

 there.

They shall be forced to bear witness to the unholy mess they have created known as congress

Where they shall worship at the altar of corporations and lobbyists and the NRA.

There they shall convene committees and they shall bicker and rant and get little done.

They shall continue to be in denial and descend once again into chaos.

They shall wander in the desert of ignorance and shame for all eternity.

And the people shall be forgotten and left to continue to fend for themselves, (even though they pay

 taxes.}

And the lord shall say unto them…

“Behold I have given you this wondrous planet with water and air and all its heavenly gifts and what

did you do? You screwed it all up…what with your climate change and your wars and bi partisan rhetoric

and all that hate… See, this is why we can’t have nice things!”

Forget building a wall we need to build another ark!

Have a wonderful weekend...

Freedom...

Oh no! It's time again for all the banging and the booming!
Time for me to hunker down under the bed till it's all over.
I wonder if that's what it sounded like to those people in Turkey, Orlando and New Town?

Some of the faces of the victims of gun violence in 2016.

When I hear people talk about their freedom and how we must protect the second amendment no matter how many people get caught in the cross fire...
I can't help but wonder why those same people don't seem too concerned about the rights and freedom of those who have died and who will die in all of the future shootings.

Have a safe and happy Forth of July...

Lost Ideals...

The human told me that when she was young the country was going through a transition.
The times they were a changing...
She told me how you stopped a war, fought for civil rights, started recycling and the peace corps.
You sent a man to the moon!
It was a time of great optimism...
There was a desire to embrace the world and all of it's diversity...

Forty five years later a lot of those very same people are now isolationists and intolerant.
They have become judgmental and angry.
They want to take their country back.
They want to make America great again...

Mean while over in Britain, they have voted to leave the EU.
Everybody wants to build walls and reinstate boarders.
Somehow that's the answer to everything that's wrong.

Personally I can't figure out what the heck changed. I asked a few people and heard the same thing;
"we grew up". Pardon my French but that sounds like a load of crap.

I think it's a shame that you did all that work and fought so hard just to throw it all away because it didn't turn out exactly the way you thought it would be.

For those of you who are old enough to remember, here's a little something to remind you what you were fighting for and if you who are to young to remember, you should take a listen too;

Maybe with a little deeper thought and the right words and music, it will all come back to you.
In the end the world is only what you make it...

Have a wonderful Sunday!
