Monday morning mewsings...

As you can see I'm all bright eyed and ( trust me ) bushy tailed for the start of another week.

As I was thinking about what to talk about this morning I was distracted by the storm outside. Tis not fit out there for man nor cat today...Fall is definitely here.

Speaking of storms... it looks like we are headed for a shutdown of the government. Personally I thought the sequester was pretty bad and now more humans will lose their jobs which will drag down the economy even more ( oh, oh... less cat toys! ) Then " they " will come out and say, "Obama Care will cost jobs! Raising taxes will cost jobs!" This all reminds me of a magician I saw once... " Look at this hand over here, look what it's doing! Don't pay any attention to the other hand, that's the one I use to pull the wool over your eyes... Ta da!"

Now I leave you with this...

What makes you smile?

A few things for the weekend...

Whether you like or dislike the idea of the Affordable Care Act I think you will love a campaign that was started by unknown entities who have hijacked the real name and replaced it with The Adorable Care Act complete with warm and fuzzy animals. Check it out at:

ODE TO STARS...

They can guide us and give us direction when we are lost.

They give us cause to dream the impossible.

Here are some of my favorite verses and lyrics about stars:

" star light star bright first star I see tonight,
I wish I may I wish I might have the wish I wish tonight"

" twinkle, twinkle little star how I wonder what you are..."

" catch a falling star and put it in your pocket never let it fade away, save it for a rainy day..."

" would you like to swing on a star, carry moon beams home in a jar..."

" when you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are..."

What are some of yours?

TEN FABULOUS FELINES:

Two Thoughts For Thursday..

I was over at Cat Chat With Caren And Cody ( www.opcatchat.blogspot.com  ) and learned about Remember Me Thursday, check out this beautiful way to honor the memory of pets who lost their lives waiting to be adopted.
Light a candle for them in their memory.

And now for something completely different:

All politics aside: Ted Cruz's 21 hour.. whatever that was.
All I heard was; "Look at me, look at me, hey, look at me. Are you looking? Look at me..." For a minute I thought my humans 2 year old niece was in the room.

MONDAY MORNING MEWSINGS...

This Monday morning brings with it a recipe for the perfume of fall.

Add the warmth of orange and yellow leaves, a dash of crispness in the air and a drop or two of rain.
Mix with the whisper of a breeze and the gradually darkening skies
to create the fragrance that is the essence of Autumn
A scent we will wear for the next several months.

A great first step by CEO of Starbucks and home town guy; Howard Shultz.
read his letter to patrons concerning guns in Starbucks at ;

A shout out to the creators of Pete The Cat picture books for kids. Check them out at; www.petethecat.com

A truly great recipe for Cat Head Biscuits an old southern favorite; www.mtnlaurel.com enter search
for "cat head biscuits".

Thoughts and prayers to those in Kenya.

Noodle hugs!

Hair balls and sticky paws vs. kitty kisses and fuzzy hugs...

Today is the International Day of Peace.

Fuzzy hugs to John Lennon for : "Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one..."
In the spirit of the day I'd like to say I am keeping my paws crossed that Syria will follow through with it's commitment to destroy it's chemical weapons. And giving a tentative fuzzy hug to Iran's president for leaving the impression that they will not pursue the making of nuclear weapons.

Kitty kisses to www.allpetsconsidered.com for getting back to us about my favorite furry mousies! They are called Boca Rats and you can order them through the above web site.

Two sticky paws to this whole budget/shutting down the government /debt ceiling debacle! Come on congress get it together or let the cat's take charge. VOTE: CAT'S FOR CONGRESS! It's already gone to the dogs.

A sticky paw and a flip of my tail to Steven Colbert and the Colbert Report.
As much as I love the show, he just may have inadvertently given the "Colbert bump"
to a blatantly racist company that sells inappropriately named and marketed ammunition.
They will probably get more attention now. ( I had a hard time deciding whether I should add to the attention, that is why I am not mentioning names ).

But then a fuzzy hug to Steven Colbert for having the New York subway kittens and the person who adopted them on his show.

A fuzzy hug and kitty kisses to two daughters of former presidents who have grown up to become model global citizens! Cheers to Chelsea Clinton and Caroline Kennedy!

A big kitty kiss if you still write letters by hand. Come on use those opposable thumbs!
Hand written letters are becoming a thing of the past, today most of us use email and text or tweet our way through the day.
I say cursive rules! So write someone a letter. Lick an envelope, stick a stamp and give a boost to the post office.
Think of all the famous letters throughout history.
Who will you write a letter to?

Have a great weekend!

So many guns...

I can not help but wonder why it is we feel we need all these guns. What are we so afraid of?
Guns are for war and the military, for law enforcement... why do ordinary everyday people need guns?
I get it...it's a scary world out there but maybe we should stop and do some thinking about where all these guns are taking us.
It seems that every time there is the beginning of a discussion, everybody starts pointing fingers and the discussion gets lost in all the chaos.
Some would argue that to own any amount of guns is a constitutional right, I guess it's all in your interpretation. Personally I don't think this is what the framers had in mind. We live in a democracy which means we get to debate these issues. So lets debate not accuse, not slander, not bully. Lets talk...more importantly, lets listen.

MONDAY MORNING MEWSINGS (musings)...

Sometimes it's hard to get started on Monday mornings. It means the week is starting all over again and I suppose you could look at it as... Oh man, it's Monday! Somehow I have to make it through another whole week!
On the other hand you could look at it as... Wow, I have another week in which to do great and wonderful things!

Are you a glass half full or a glass half empty kind of cat lover?

Hair Balls and Sticky Paws vs. Kitty Kisses and Fuzzy Hugs

As I leave for the week end here are some of the things that are on my mind and on my list of things to do:

A fuzzy hug to Voyager for staying up in space for 35+ years when it was only supposed to be up there for 5! Considering your iPhone has way more technical abilities, that's awesome!

A big fuzzy hug to the New York city subway kittens.

A sticky paw to Iowa for making it legal to register for a gun even if you are blind. Really? Wouldn't a service dog be a lot more cuddly?

A fuzzy hug to Billie Jean King for being a great female role model and being an American Master
subject on PBS.

A big hair ball to the flooding in Colorado. We hope the rain stops soon.

A big fuzzy hug to all the cat people out there in the blogosphere who have been so kind and helpful!

A sticky paw to marketing that squishes Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas together making us all feel rushed and less able to enjoy the festivities. There have been Halloween decorations up since September 1st!

Fuzzy hugs to Cat-Man-Doo Dried Bonito Flakes! They are soooo yummy!

And kitty kisses to my favorite fur mousies ( not sure who makes them but I'm checking into it... )

Just a late addition to today's post:

If you would like suggestions for choosing an act of kindness, visit: www.compassiongames.org
The compassion games end on the International Day Of Peace which is September 21st.
For more info go to: www.internationaldayofpeace.org

Peace,

Noodle

On this somber anniversary I would like to suggest that perhaps we could all try to preform at least one random act of kindness today.

What will you do?

I want to give a great big hug to everyone at the Cat Blogosphere   www.blog.catblogosphere.com

And let you all know I did switch off the Word Verification. Although it is harder with paws.

Now I will hurry off to watch the crows before I reply to all of your wonderful comments!

Just My Opinion:
It seems to me that we have tried our hand at too many wars recently and no good has come of it. Maybe it's time we bake cookies every time we feel the need to "do something". Everyone likes cookies!
So here is my plan; bake and send cookies to your Senator or Congress person let them know you want them to; "MAKE COOKIES
NOT WAR!"

Join Noodles " MORE COOKIES, NO WAR" movement!
Send a picture and recipe of your protest cookie to: herecomesnoodle@gmail.com

LATER THE SAME DAY:

Noodles attempt at " peace sign" cookies. She will be sending four dozen to her Senator as soon as she gets the frosting off of her paws.

Rituals. The little bits of life that we reenact over and over. They give us the constants as we stumble through our day. They give us the normal that we need to make it through... over to the other side of the day the week the month the year.

Waking up and looking out at the family of sparrows who inhabit the tree just outside the dining room window...

Going to the same café each day and sitting in just the same spot each time...

Using that same pen to write in your journal...

Using the chipped tea cup that feels just right in your hands as you sip your tea before bed...

 What are your rituals?
