If you think I look confused, I am and it's all because...

she's back and she's...okay I don't know what she's doing!

This week Republicans gathered in Iowa for the Freedom Summit which is basically the kick off to announce who is running in 2016.
I was all ready to riff on lots of different potential candidates but then this happened...
http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2015/01/29/newday-ip-sarah-palin-confusing-speech.cnn  needless to say, hey Sarah, here's another sticky paw to add to your collection!

If you think that was weird try making heads or tales out of Mike Huckabee's speech about sausage; http://www.c-span.org/video/?323834-17/iowa-freedom-summit-mike-Huckabee we think it deserves a hairball or two...

A huge kitty kiss to Barbara Streisand! We've loved her voice for years... so we were amazed + bewitched, bothered and bewildered when we saw this; http://www.huffingtonpost.com/domenick-scudera/barbra-streisand-is-the-m_b_6262208.html?utm_hp_ref=conspiracy-theories

A big sticky paw to SCOTUS as we anticipate how they will decide...sure this is just what we need! Less protection of voting rights... http://nextcity.org/daily/entry/supreme-court-ruling-fair-housing-act-case

And then there's Mitt, I can't wait to see just what The Mitt has to offer us this time around! ; http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/29/the-rererebranding-of-mit_n_6570252.html apparently he has found his new calling, that of helping those in need...oh Mitt; sticky, sticky, sticky paw!

UPDATE! Mitt has decided NOT to run after all!

And last but not least a big sticky paw to the ghost of elections past! For some inexplicable reason (perhaps he thought someone would care?) Dan Quayle decided to throw his two cents into universe;
http://www.golfchannel.com/news/grill-room/quayle-wants-obama-golf-not-screw-country/

In the 1960's, yes 60's...one of the crew went to see a concert and the opening act was a group from here in Seattle, Marilee Rush and the Turnabouts who had a hit out at the time Angel of the Morning.
On the way home the other day the crew member heard this on the radio; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWJrPzAUzAs; we love to learn about new versions of things. Whether we like them better or not, it's the experience of finding something you thought you knew, done in a completely different way...
Here is the original; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B1wyTK9bnjU

Well children, we would be remiss if we did not add a hug fuzzy hug and a go get um to the Seattle Seahawks who as you probably know are playing in the SUPER BOWL this Sunday. Although I nor the crew are big footie ball fans, we are Seattleites! So, go Hawks!

Have a super weekend!

It's Time Once Again For Noodle's Sticky Paws And Hairballs vs. Fuzzy Hugs And Kitty Kisses...

Sometimes life is a balancing act... you have to weigh the hype with the truth...

And speaking of hype and truth, did you see Ted Cruz's response to the State of the Union Address? You really need to see this!; http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/20/ted-cruz-video_n_6512668.html Do I really need to say it? Give that man a sticky paw!

Next, a great big sticky paw to the Department of Children's Health and Welfare in Maryland;
Last week we heard about parents in Maryland who are being investigated by the Department of Children's Health and Welfare. Why? Because their kids were walking home from the park by themselves...ummmm excuse me but do you really think the strangers that called the police to report this heinous act  would be very concerned if those same kids had their school lunches taken away due to budget cuts? Or if they were black and were shot at because one of them was carrying a water pistol?  You have certain cable "news" commentators and radio personalities piling on to say "yes", of course the parents should have their children ripped from there home and traumatized all because they were doing something we have all done as kids and that my friends is mostly when ( and you can check the statistics ) crime was much higher than it is now.
We have become so enmeshed  in our concerns with other people's lives and we have determined that we are the ones who know best. But only peripherally! Please don't ask us to get involved in any meaningful way. But be aware, if you have something to say about me or my family I will scream that you are trampling my FREEDOM as loud as I can from the rooftops so....
Could we maybe just ratchet down the drama we seem to thrive on so much,  just a little bit? And maybe take a look at our own kids and selves before we go throwing stones at others.

A gigantic sticky paw to FOX NEWS...okay I admit we aren't fans but still. Don't make sh*t up!
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/01/15/fox-news-paris-no-go-zones-afghanistan-iraq-lampooned-french-tv_n_6479834.html
and no, apologizing after the fact, doesn't cut it.
http://www.ajc.com/news/news/national/fox-news-apologizes-paris-no-go-zones-report/njrWD/

And on that note a super big hairy hairball to Bobby Jindal who it appears did NOT get the memo?
http://www.nola.com/politics/index.ssf/2015/01/bobby_jindal_fox_news.html

And now for something cat related...

Noodle was thinking the other day about some of the stuff cats hate, here is a partial list;

1. when people put things around their necks (bells, bows etc.)
2. loud noises
3. sudden movements by anything bigger than the cat
4. being petted in the wrong direction
5. competition ( other small animals, babies, pretty much anything really )
6. being told how fat they have gotten...

What is your pet's peeve?

And for all of you who skip the sticky paws looking for the good stuff (you know who you are...)
a super sloppy kitty kiss to the one and only Jimmy Fallon; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTg-CsVJ6UE

Have a great weekend!

It's The Weekend...so it's time for ( you thought I was going to say sticky paws vs. fuzzy hugs huh?) But no it's time for...
Noodle's first instalment of Slightly Demented Political Fairy Tales...
Everything old is new again and again and again.....

                                                 ( It's so amazing that I am in color!)

Yes, just when you thought is was safe to go back into the voting booth...

It's Mitt! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/09/mitt-romney-2016_n_6446064.html
It was one thing having the prospect of a Clinton/ Bush race but now it appears we will have a Clinton/ Bush and Romney race! We thought that this news deserved a special post and so...

Gather around children it's time for the very first instalment of Noodle's Slightly Demented Political Fairy Tales!

Once upon a time in a kingdom not so far away but a little in the middle, there was to be held a great race. For some it would be the first race for others it would be their final, well maybe final try and some would try again and again and again...

There came a man from the kingdom a little to the right who had run the race twice before and he would be called Mitt of Romney. Others from the kingdom came to race against him and they were Jeb of Bush, Rand of Paul and Chris of Christy. From a neighboring kingdom a little to the left, there came one who would challenge them all and she would be called the lady Hillary of Clinton and she would appear atop a shining hill with her sword of truth and fairness and the people of the land would have hope.

Those from the kingdom a little to the right would make a pilgrimage and they would travel to the land of Iowa where one of them would emerge as the victor of the Poll of Straw. And then the two kingdoms would compete in the great race of the year of our lord 2016...

When the dust had settled in the land of Iowa Mitt of Romney was left standing and would challenge the lady Hillary of Clinton for the house of white.

And verily it came to the month of November and the people of the kingdoms lined the roads and pathways and the crowds cheered and held signs ( yes they had signs back then ),
The race began and the lady Hillary was by far ahead. But as they rounded the last bend in the road to victory something spooked lady Hillary's noble steed and Mitt of Romney sped past her.
And yay the lady Hillary fell from her mount and tumbled to the ground.

Mitt of Romney crossed ye old finish line and won the race. The lady Hillary lay upon the ground bruised and battered. She looked up into the cold and vacant eyes of  Mitt of Romney and he said unto her "foolish lady Hillary, don't you know that the truth can never win against the fearsome ogre of wealth and greed? Ye old money lenders and robber barrens of capitalism  along with the corporations have more money than God and with great thanks to the court of the supremes all of that gold will crush any good person who would run the race".

And with that Mitt of Romney road off into the sunset toward the house of white followed by his apprentice Jeb of Bush and his court jester Chris of Christy..
And verily he would cut taxes for the wealthy and the people of the kingdoms would not live happily ever after...

that is until there would emerge from the kingdom a little to the left the fair lady Elisabeth of Warren...

The end...for now.

Have a great weekend!

                          Je Suis Charlie

"I disapprove of what  you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

Interestingly enough this quote is usually attributed to Voltaire. It was actually written by Evelyn Beatrice Hall who wrote under the pseudonym S.G. Tallentyre and is best known for her biography of Voltaire titled "The Friends of Voltaire." Hall's quote is often cited to describe the principal of freedom of speech.

I was searching for an image from Paris that I hoped would capture what I was feeling about the assault on this amazing city and her people. This is the one that spoke to me... It is of one half of a grave stone that can be found in the Cimetiere de Montparnasse...

We of Noodle's Crew stand with and send our prayers and condolences to the people of France.

                             It's Our First Post Of  2015!

And we are jumping in with all four paws.

So...the police;

First let me say that I would guess most police around the country are good people trying to do a good job. But, people are people and there are bad teachers, bad food servers and bad shoe sales people.
That being said being a police officer is one of the few jobs where part of you're job description includes restraining and or killing people. Being a police officer is a job it's not a right. And if you want respect...you have to earn it.
Over the past few weeks people who speak for the police have said some very troubling things.
They have threatened to not do their jobs as a form of protest to how they think they are being perceived blaming people's perception of them and their actions on anyone and everyone including the president.
The officer who choked Eric Garner;  http://www.npr.org/blogs/codeswitch/2014/07/29/335847224/what-we-see-in-the-eric-garner-video-and-what-we-dont   said he was afraid for his life. There were at least six other officers piled on in that situation, one who was just as large a man as Mr. Garner and the officer that shot Tamir Rice; http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/video/2014/nov/26/cleveland-video-tamir-rice-shooting-police insisted that he was afraid for his life
Here's the thing if you are that afraid of your job...get a different job! I get it police work is hard. You are in a dangerous profession but it is a profession. You chose to do it and if you don't like what you do or aren't good at it...leave.
When police turned their backs on the mayor of New York during the wakes and funerals of the two police officers that were murdered, all they did was reinforce their lack of maturity for a job that demands it. Listen up...you work for the people not the other way around! They pay your salary...you are public servants just like fire fighters and garbage collectors and teachers...

You are not the law you are protectors of the law...for everyone.

Welcome to 2015!
