Okay, obviously this is not me.
But I thought I'd show you how most felines feel about the stupid clickie box.

Have a great Wednesday!

Lip service...

We are coming to you late in the day because originally this was going to be a very different post and then I ran into someone I see once in a while at the gym.

She mentioned that she was going to participate in a march this weekend I think it's The March For Truth. Which got me to thinking about a discussion I had just had with someone the night before.

If you haven't heard, there's an uprising!
A resistance.

It goes by various names in various places but it's people unhappy with the system, with how the country is going, with how the election turned out...

It's about Trump but it's also about Bernie verses Hillary.

It's about the evolution of robotics invading the workplace and taking jobs (some say seven million in the next several years!)

You name it...people aren't happy and they are taking to the streets.

We all saw the mass marches the day after the election and there have been on going protests ever since.

Millions of people marching and letting the world know that they are not okay with the status quo.
There are hundreds of groups that have sprung up all over the country and the world.
#Resist, Indivisible groups, MoveOn groups and on and on.

This is great, to an extent...

We are having a conversation in this country and that's wonderful.

But at what point do we take the next step?

A conversation is a way to get people motivated to do something.

But what I'm seeing is people who are content just having the conversation, somehow the conversation has become their something to do.

But a conversation is just that.

Marching in a rally is marching.

They are all great first steps.

The thing is, if the first step is the only step you take what have you actually accomplished?

Sure maybe you make yourself feel better, kind of like the person who goes to the gym once a week but can't understand why they aren't in better shape.

It seems to me that if we really want change we need to get up off our best intentions and actually do
something.

Protest!
March!

Great but then volunteer at your local ACLU, greet refugee families who are new to the area, RUN FOR OFFICE!

Here's an example of what I mean; during World War I, the united states instituted widespread surveillance of immigrants and political radicals.

Some feared that the country was abandoning cherished traditions of tolerance and free speech.

In response a small group of progressives founded an organization that would be come to be known as the American Civil Liberties Union.

They lost many early courtroom battles, but their vision of a nation in which civil liberties were taken seriously eventually changed the face of American law and politics.

What if they had stopped at protesting or marching?

Our hope is that you go to the marches. That you protest. That you speak up.
But after that...

DO SOMETHING!

Evolve from conversation and taking a stand to action.

It's a lot more work but it's worth it.

Remember it only takes one candle to light the darkness so go out and shine.

Have a wonderful weekend...

It's probably a duck!

Let's all just agree that whether you like him or not Donald Trump is so far out of his depth of ability that he is drowning and he's pulling us all down with him.

He is not unlike a child who stands before a broken cookie jar, face covered in cookie crumbs adamantly denying any involvement in the shattered crockery at his feet.

To say that he exhibits many of the characteristics of a toddler is sure to raise more than a few eyebrows but, if it walks like a duck...

You should not be speaking about the head of the country and keep using phrases like " he's on a learning curve,
he's not a politician or he's an outsider so he didn't know not to pass on classified information", especially to our adversary's.

In this the real world If the nukes start flying there will be no do overs.

Our current president is a spoiled brat, period!

He has one tantrum after another.

If he thinks he's been slighted he picks up his toys and goes home where he is surrounded by those who are willing to say whatever need be to pacify his ego.

He runs amok from hour to hour cracking , breaking, and chipping at our democracy and the world as if they were his personal play things.

Right now, there is no adult in the room to child proof his environment and thus our own.

You wouldn't leave a toddler in charge of  an unlocked gun cabinet or sit him alone in the car with the motor running, but that is exactly what we have done.

And now it's time for the grownups to take away the keys before the kid kills himself or someone else.

The Oval Office is not a preschool!

And as to the assumption that MR. Trump will be  becoming presidential any time soon, if ever?
Just remember; if it look like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck...it's a fricking duck!

Have a wonderful weekend!

A special happy birthday and a happy mother's day to all moms...

                                     05/13/1923 - 02/06/2016

She was born on Mother's Day.

She loved licorice and MGM musicals. She collected refrigerator magnets and always wore her fathers watch after he passed away.

She taught me not to judge others who were different from myself and told me to take the time to put myself in other peoples shoes.

She sang off key.

She was perfectly flawed.

She was both strong and weak at the same time.

She endured much sorrow in her life and did it gracefully.

She was the bravest person I know.

I will miss her every day...

Happy Mother's Day to each and every mom!

Everybody has an opinion...

So, there is this big kerfuffle going on about a comedy monologue that was delivered by Stephen Colbert about Donald Trump.

Now this is nothing new of course. Comedian's and late night talk hosts have been skewering politician's for years.

What's interesting is that some, are now whining about this "terrible" hate speech and having the government via the FCC , investigate...

These are the same  people who espoused the government for being too big and oh by the way, what ever happened to those same folks and their righteous indignation when it came to their freedom of speech?

Let me get this straight, it's okay for "people" to say things like "I grab them by the pussy" and imply that Ted  Cruz's father had something to do with JFK's assassination,
but a late night talk show host, known to be a comedian who tells a joke you don't find amusing, well that's just too much?

Let me throw out my humble opinion on what's going on here...

It seems to me that we have become a nation, no a world, of people who are convinced that our opinion is the correct opinion.

It doesn't seem to matter anymore whether you can back it up with facts because facts are subjective now days.

We watch MSNBC or FOX,
we listen to NPR or Rush Limbaugh.

We wrap ourselves in our little protective cocoon's where the only thing we let in are the things we agree with and convince ourselves that our facts are the right facts, our way is the right way, our God is the right God and our beliefs are the right beliefs.

We don't bother to listen to anyone whose views don't correspond to ours so we never even think about other view points.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!!!

We need dialogue people!

We need to talk to each other!

Some one made the case the other day that the Democratic party has basically proclaimed that if you are Pro Life you are not welcome.

That's just bad politics!

But we all know it's not just Democrats...

If you are a Republican running for a seat by god you better be against immigration reform and threatening to eviscerate Planned Parenthood.

And don't get me started on climate change.

And let's not forget those pesky Independents...

Look, you may be pro gun, pro life, pro the wall and all sorts of things someone like me finds totally unacceptable...but opinion's TRUE OPINIONS really do matter.

We all need to give a little here.

Inclusive not exclusive makes for a much better and productive society and isn't that what we all want?

So how about we take compromise off the dirty words list for a while.

How about we challenge ourselves to step out of our comfort zone and actually listen to other points of view?

Just because you open yourself up to other ideas doesn't mean you have to change your mind and it doesn't mean you are a traitor to your belief's.

So come on...give it a try!

You never know what you might learn...

Have a super Sunday!
