Long over due Sticky Paws and Kitty Kisses...

(we apologize for are wonky line breaks, we're working on it)

We want to give a great big Kitty Kiss and Fuzzy Hug to Dick's Sporting Goods
.
Today they announced that they will no longer sell assault or assault style weapons.

Nor will they sell any guns to anyone under 21!

And as long as we are being vocal today, we want to give a huge Sticky Paw to the NRA

for their attempt to discount the voices of the young people who are leading this

social tidal wave and who refuse to make society safer for all of us due to their greed for political and

monetary gains.

Hang on everybody, for the times they are a changing!

We would all be wise to heed the words of Bob Dylan's classic song preformed here by Bruce

Springsteen...

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Lyrics for; The Times They Are A Changin'

Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Hurray for the kids!

After the latest mass shooting in a school, we fully expected the talking points to all be the same as usual.

Hearts and prayers.

Such a tragedy.

Now is not the time to talk, it's a time to grieve.

But to our surprise something amazing began happening.

KIDS!

The students from Stoneman Douglas High School where the latest shooting took place  and other students around the state and around the country are taking matters into their own hands.

Unable to depend on the ability of "the grownups in the room"to change anything.

Kids have decided they will lead the charge for change.

The adults have all fallen back on the same old platitudes.

On Wednesday Donald Trump convened a "listening session" which included parents, teachers, victims of school shootings and their families.

At this meeting one of the solutions Mr. Trump came up with that over the next several days he has doubled down on is arming teachers.

There aren't enough guns already so lets arm the teachers because... what could possibly go wrong?

Well, let's see....

Putting aside the fact that 99% of teachers asked said NO they would not feel comfortable having to carry guns.
They are there to teach not police.

Then there's this:

What if the teacher misses the target and shoots an innocent student?

What if the teacher snaps and starts shooting up the classroom?

What if a student who wouldn't otherwise have had a gun, steals the teachers gun and starts shooting?

How would the teacher know what other teachers were armed and not have someone shot in the crossfire?

How much would all this cost?

Where would the teachers store the guns?

Would they be libel in case of an accident?

What if the teacher was sick and there was a substitute?
Do we give them a gun?

Earlier this week, Lawrence O Donald of MSNBC's The Last Word did an excellent job of  breaking down why this is such a stunningly bad idea.

So, let's take a little test;

A. Arming teachers is a great idea.

B. Arming teachers and students is a great idea.

C. These are both the worst idea's in the world!

You decide......

In my humble opinion the very last thing we need in schools is more guns.

What we do need is common sense gun reforms.

If I hear one more person say ________ (fill in the blank) is coming to take their guns I will scream!

In all these years when has anyone taken your guns?

IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN SO RELAX!

And NO ONE needs an automatic weapon except the military and the police...period!

Can we just all be realistic?

No automatic weapons.
No arming teachers.
No, no one is taking your guns away.

End of discussion.

Now can we please get to work and make this a safer country for everyone?

Remember when?

I'm dreaming about days gone by...

Remember when there was no such thing as cell phones only beepers?
Remember when you rented movies on VHS?
Remember when there was nothing called a laptop or ipad?
Remember mini skirts and Beatle boots and record players and 45's?
Remember transistor radios?
Remember when public schools had art and music programs and taught writing in cursive?
Remember when prisons where not for profit?
Remember newspapers?

Remember when, we had a president who spoke eloquently?
Remember when we had a president who wasn't mired in scandals?
Remember when every waking hour wasn't about juvenile things the president said and did?
Remember when the president didn't insult our allies?
Remember when the president didn't defend pedophiles, Nazis and abusers?
Remember when the president wasn't in it for the money?
Remember when the presidents cabinet was filled with competent people who knew their jobs?

Remember that, that was just a year ago?

Those were the days my friend......

Have a fab weekend!

Lift off...

                                      (Noodle looking for Space X)

Noodle graciously has given up her Wordless Wednesday, so that I might say a few words...

I grew up in the 60's.

I was alive when we first shot a rocket to the moon.

I remember the pride and thrill of watching Neil Armstrong taking that first step and the words,
"that's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind"

With the amazing success of the SPACE X   launch yesterday,
February 6th. 2018 will go down in history.

I don't believe in coincidences.

I think everything happens for a reason no matter how insignificant it may seem at the time.

I don't think it was a coincidence that they launched a rocket into the heavens on the anniversary of my mothers passing.

At least I'd love to think in my heart that it was no coincidence.

I imagine instead that the rocket was predestined to soar into space on that exact date to celebrate my mothers life.

To acknowledge her essence.

Or perhaps it really was just a wonderful coincidence...

Trying to catch up...

We must have had seven different posts we were working on over the past few days.

Each one taking the place of the last one written in an attempt to keep up with everything that's going on.

We've been playing this catch up game for over a year now and I must say....it's exhausting!

This week it's all about The Memo.

Last week it was porn stars and affairs.

The week before that it was all about the presidents remarks about Haiti and Africa.

And the week before it was the government shut down and not that the government was shut down but more importantly who's fault it was.

There was the release of the book; Fire and Fury.

( I'm not even going to mention the Russia stuff, that would take way too much time)

Not that these things are unimportant or are not note worthy but the human mind can only retain so much!

There is impending war with North Korea or maybe even Iran.

There's DACA.

And still much of Puerto Rico sits without power and clean water.

The opioid epidemic continues to grow.

Our infrastructure keeps failing.

Homeless numbers climb.

Veterans are still committing suicide.

Bottom line is; there is no catching up.

We are in a continuous spin cycle that has no off button.

We are doomed to keep chasing our tails until we have an epiphany and realize that it's all just to some degree, noise.

Congress has thrown their respect and morals out the window and replaced  them with greed and power.

So, will Trump fire Rosenstein or Mueller or both?

Will the stock market fall below the 635 points it fell today?

Nothing is going to save us.

WE are the off button.

Only we can say ENOUGH and change the channel.

Maybe then we can all get to work and actually DO something...

Everybody happy?

Is this America being great again?

Have a wonderful weekend...
