                A Heart Warming Story For The Holidays...

We heard a story we really wanted to share.

Eight year old Sofia who lives in Dallas, Texas was frightened by the rhetoric of Donald Trumps call to ban Muslims and not let them enter the US. Her mother, Yassini, took to facebook to explain the devastating effect that the Republican front runners words were having on her child.

In the days following the incident Yassini's post went viral where it was read by Kerri Peek a mom and army veteran who posted a photo of herself in uniform as a show of solidarity along with the words "please show this picture of me to your daughter. Tell her I am a mom too and as a soldier I will protect her from the bad guys".
Peek then issued a plea to her "friends in the armed forces" asking them to show solidarity with families like Yassini's...

This is what followed;

" If you can't say something nice...don't say anything at all"-Thumper's mom ( Walt Disney's Bambi )...and; What is the real meaning of that word?

Lately some people have been trying to convince everyone that talking in a derogatory manner is just really not being so very politically correct. According to these people, "there is too much political correctness and it's time to just say what you feel" no matter who it hurts or what damage it does otherwise you will look and sound weak; http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2015/12/16/3732921/ted-cruz-political-correctness/

The problem with this argument is the seemingly free reign it gives to those who feel they can now finally speak out loud things that should be kept to ones self if thought at all.

Someone somewhere decided that the meaning of political correctness needed to be changed to benefit their message.

If you feel you must say offensive things out loud just say them and own up to your statements. Don't  defend them by trying to change the English language.
Better yet have a moral compass and don't say them in the first place; https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sheet/wp/2015/12/12/what-scalias-controversial-remarks-about-african-americans-expose-about-u-s-higher-education/

Now we turn to the definition of the word TRUTH;

After watching the republican debate the other night, I was amazed at how many of the candidates made statements that were blatantly untrue. Even when called to site the basis for the comment they just doubled down as if their unwillingness to admit they embellished or outright lied would somehow make them look stronger as a candidate; http://www.salon.com/2015/12/17/carly_fiorina_is_a_liar_and_everyone_should_finally_just_say_it_loudly/

It of course is not just Ms. Fiorina. Donald Trumps entire campaign seems to be made up of nonsense and comments that have no basis in fact whatsoever.
The real problem is not so much that they are saying these things, lets face it politicians lie.
It is however disturbing that they are often not called out to correct themselves and worse yet that when they are they bluster on about anyone and everything else on the planet to misdirect the conversation until everyone just gives up.

If we have devolved so far that we no longer will defend the truth, and by that I mean the actual truth not what someone believes to be the truth, how will we ever survive as a nation, as a people as a world?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! And that's the truth...

 On this day prior to the sixth (?) Republican debate we thought this may be of interest;

With many of the establishment Republicans ready to implode with how it looks as though the primaries might go ( let's face it there are still 13 candidates to choose from! ) http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/13/politics/republican-debate-gop-stage/

And with all the talk of polls and brokered conventions going on we couldn't resist sharing an idea that sprang up from heaven knows where.

Is it really this bad?

An Abundance Of Guns...

                Something To Think About This Weekend...

                                            An Abundance Of Guns...

Another shooting and whether or not it is workplace violence or it ends up being a terrorist attack it is another in what seems to be a never ending chain of: more guns, more bullets, more death.

First let me say that I do not want anyone to take away anyone's guns.
I do not oppose people having guns.
But here is where we might differ;
I don't think there is any conceivable reason for anyone other than those in the military to have or need automatic weapons and bulk ammunition clips.
I think that there is every reason to have mandatory background checks for anyone trying to purchase a gun of any kind, anywhere and if you have nothing to hide or are not committing or planning to commit a crime you should not have a problem with them either.
It seems the more this happens the more we all dig in our heels and say no even before anyone has asked a question. No matter, we must find an answer...
Maybe there should be a limit per house hold on the number of guns you can have at one time. If you're not planning to arm a militia or go on a shooting spree do you  really need more than one or two guns?
Perhaps we could put a tax on ammunition $ 1000.00 per bullet. That might cut down on the number of shootings...
Maybe a gun tax. We pay taxes on our cars why not guns? Of course we have to register and licence our cars and we have to have and renew a drivers license...hu-m-m-m.
If we were to cut the number of fire arms we have in this country in half we would still have more guns than anyone else.
I keep hearing with each new shooting with loved ones lost and others traumatized for the rest of their lives, that the answer to this whole problem is just to have more guns.
With each addition to the body count I would ask you when will there be enough guns?
Will there be anyone left alive to answer that question?
Too much of anything is a bad idea...too much to drink, too much sun, too much to eat, too much exercise... ( or if you are so inclined; too many laws, too many immigrants, too much government... )
Why is it so hard to just admit we have an abundance of guns, and the consequences are more deadly than any terrorist attack we could ever imagine.
Truly reasonable people can have a disagreement about guns, abortion, the role of government and all the other topics that divide us, but while we are arguing about who is right and who is wrong and while we repeat all the talking points we have heard and agree with, people are dying and if we are not careful it will destroy us all.
With all these guns we have accumulated and all the common sense regulations that we have not put into place (congress just struck down a bill that would have made it illegal for those on The Terrorist Watch List to purchase a gun, really?) http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/senate-gop-votes-terrorist-gun-bill-article-1.2454448 we seem stuck in an endless loop of violence.

We seem to be more concerned about our position on the issue and how to make the case that our way is the right way rather than on the thousands of our citizens; men, women and children who are dying every day due to guns.

I feel I must repeat an important aspect to what I am saying here; I don't hate guns! I don't think there should be no guns. You like guns? Great have one or two but please let's live in a country where you have them and their abundance does not take away my rights.. my right to go to a movie theater or shopping mall or send my kids off to school without worrying about someone with guns and buckets of ammo shooting up the place.

I refuse to believe that we simply can not have a civilized discussion about this issue. Compromise is not a dirty word. Our country was founded on compromise.
If we stand around and do nothing but argue then that is our shame and for this we will be held accountable...

Have a wonderful weekend,

Call It What It Is!

                                         * warning, this post contains two R-rated words...

For those of you who are regular readers of my little blog I think I can say with pride that I am a
pretty open minded kitty.

I try very hard to be unbiased and fair and I very rarely rant.
That being said...get ready it's about to get a little bumpy...

So, another day, another shooting. Apparently this is what we have now devolved into.
If we continue to view our cities, towns and nation as combat zones...that is precisely what they will be.

WE HAVE TOO MANY GUNS IN THIS COUNTRY!!!

Donald Trump made a comment after the Paris shootings; "if they had only had more guns maybe it
wouldn't have been so bad".
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/donald-trump-paris-attacks-people-guns/story?id=35207857

Really? Just so I'll know, how many is enough? Because we already have
tens of thousands. So what exactly is enough guns?

There is no answer of course because the argument is there is never enough for some people so
let's just be honest about it.

So, unfortunately the shootings in Colorado will end up being just another statistic on an ever
growing list...

Next, please for the love of God don't call yourself Pro Life as you gun down those who don't agree
with you!
http://georgetownvoice.com/2015/10/08/right-to-life-with-conditions-the-hypocrisy-of-the-pro-life-generation/

Pro Life means you believe in life. There are no exceptions you do not get to pick and choose. You
are either Pro Life or your not so if you feel the need to kill in the name of your belief or cheer on
those who do...
find a new name because you are NOT pro life you are pro which ever life you deem significant .

Last...this whole bantering about of the of term politically correct... http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dale-hansen/political-correctness-and_b_7620914.html

Making fun of someone with a disability, calling someone ugly, degrading woman, saying all
Muslims are terrorists and all Mexicans are murders and rapists doesn't mean you are tired of being
politically correct, it simply means you're being an asshole!

There are second graders who know better than what some people are calling their right to say what
they want and damn the consequences.
They have come to the conclusion that doing so makes them look and sound tough...news flash it
makes them look petty and intolerant and let's be perfectly honest if anyone makes a derogatory
comment about one of those same folks throwing all this crap about, they whine and moan that
someone is stepping all over their freedom.

Just because you have a loud obnoxious vocabulary that you spew at the top of your lungs
and you put the American flag on everything and have a closet full of weapons and can yell the
loudest doesn't make you tough or strong or patriotic or, and this is very important...it doesn't make
you right!

If you're proud to be a bully, or a bigot or a racist and you believe you have the right to say who
should and shouldn't be able to come to this country and who should be able to live and who should
die.

And if you think this country is so bad (the government is too big, they're trying to take your guns,
we have to seal the boarders so no one who isn't white doesn't get in, the media is too liberal...) do
everybody a favor and leave...we have enough problems without you.

Please...let's get back to being grown ups.

You can probably tell I'm a bit frustrated but for whatever it's worth that's my two cents...

Have a great weekend,

Noodle (and crew)

P.S. sorry about the formatting my computer seems to be having a breakdown...

                                    Cats to the rescue!

I know it's Wordless Wednesday but, we just had to talk about this...
During the lock down in Brussels this last weekend the police were concerned that civilians might report seeing police exacting raids and going house to house in areas and didn't want it getting out where they where.

They took to Twitter themselves and asked the public to please not tweet or give away their positions on social media of any sort until the all clear.

Being the good civic minded citizens that they are they complied but they did it with humor.

That is where #brusselslockdown came in and cats saved the day!

                          Some Thoughts For The Weekend...

Many of the presidential candidates especially on the right, have stopped trying to convince us all that  immigrants, legal or not in some cases, should be sent back to Mexico. They have instead turned their attention to the Syrian refugees who are fleeing their home countries to find safe havens in other countries including the U.S.

I understand that people are scared.

I understand that people don't like change and things are changing.

I understand that we are suspicious of what we do not know and that we have a tendency to over react in times of fear with shameful consequences; http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2015/11/18/roanoke-mayor-syrian-refugees/76016936/

You don't have to go back to far to find evidence of this.  A lot of the same voices you are hearing now are the same voices who declared that we would all die of Ebola if we didn't seal the boarders and stop all entry from Africa.

This is one of those times and we can either do the right thing or we can give in to fear.  If we choose to do the latter we alone will have to live with and pass on to our children and their children what we do now.

As I write this 31 Governors have vowed to not accept refugees from Syria in their states and want to stop any from entering the country at all...unless perhaps they are Christen.
Someone asked how would you prove you are a Christen and Jeb Bush tried to explain; http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/jeb-bush-would-back-refugees-who-prove-theyre-Christian

Now the house has just passed a bill with conditions that make it nearly impossible for refugees from Syria or Iraq to enter the U.S. even though we already have a very stringent entrance policy in place that has been working fine.
Right now it takes those who wish to come to the U.S. 18-24 months of extensive screening prior to receiving refugee status.

There is even talk now by some of the Republican candidates of a mandatory registry for all Muslims...  http://www.cnn.com/2015/11/19/politics/donald-trump-barack-obama-threat-to-country/index.html is this a path we really want to go down?

The fact is, you have a much greater risk of being killed while at school or at a theater or the mall
by a white Christian male than by a Muslim terrorist. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/6/19/1394617/-NY-Times-Right-Wing-Terrorists-kill-more-people-in-US-than-Muslim-extremists

In these difficult times when it is easy to do what our fear tells us to do, we should never forget;

First they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me...
and there was no one left to speak for me.

- Martin Niemoeller -

The attacks in Paris were horrific and tragic.
But in the end what we decide to do now will tell future generations who we were and what we stood for as a nation and as a world...

Keeping in mind that we are a nation of the descendant's of immigrants, let us choose wisely.

Listen, reflect, repeat.
Listen reflect, repeat...

                              A Scary Halloween Post!

We know this is what you have been waiting for so here goes;

Some of you have commented that we have been remiss in giving you our take on the presidential debates both Republican and Democrat so now with three Republican debates in the can and one with the Democrats we thought it was time to weigh in.

On the Republican side here is our current view of the candidates;

Trump; reality TV star out to get publicity and cash in on his moment in the spot light. Will quit when he's in third place...

Carson; perhaps people trust him because he's a doctor/ authority figure. Otherwise...I don't get it. Would you pick a politician to operate on you? He might be a brilliant surgeon but what the heck does that have to do with being president?

Fiorina; Seems a bit too angry besides which most of what she says has been proven to be untruthful (notice I didn't say lies?)

Rubio; will probably be the nominee of the Republican party.

Bush; All I hear is whining...I think it's time for Jeb to pick up his toys and go home and do some of those cool things he says he could be doing... The longer he's in this the whinier he gets and the lower his numbers go.

Christie; His own state is a mess so he wants to abandon that mess and mess up the whole country instead? Also, if you can't lose weight even with surgery then what are the chances you have the discipline to run a country. Hey, he made it a public issue not me. Then there's  that whole bullying thing he does.

Cruz; Seems better suited to sermonizing, needs to find a church and a congregation as opposed to a public office. Panders to the camera WAY too much!

Paul; Wait...Is he still in this?

Huckabee; See Ted Cruz.

Kasich; Who is this guy again?

And what we think of the Democrats;

Hilary; Lot's of excess baggage but also lots of real experience in politics. Needs to let the real Hilary come through no matter who the inner Hilary is...it's the only way to appear genuine and gain trust.
Then there are those never ending pesky e-mails...and don't ever forget Benghazi, Benghazi, Benghazi...because there are a lot of conservatives who never will as demonstrated by the what...107th Benghazi inquiry?

Sanders; Love his politics for the most part but he seems a bit too to angry too. At least he finally combed his hair...we think it's interesting that his candidacy resulted in pulling the Dems to the left, somewhere they seem to have been afraid to go on their own.

O'Malley; See John Kasich...

So who is your favorite candidate?

That's how we assess things at this point.
So if that didn't float your boat, try watching Bad Lip Reading's take on both of the first debates. If we didn't give you a giggle they definitely will!;

                                 Something's For Sunday...

Here are a few things to ponder this Sunday...

You are probably wondering why we have such an artsy photo today...well it's because today is
International Artists Day; http://www.internationalartistday.com/  it's also World Pasta Day and National Mother-in-laws Day.

What a guy! This French sailor will go down in Cat History. We wish we had a special medal for him...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3282150/Frenchman-cat-tucked-inside-clothes-makes-daring-leap.html

Although we don't agree too much with Paul Ryan's politics in general and even though he looks like Ernie of Burt and Ernie ( see; http://herecomesnoodle.blogspot.com/2015/10/something-to-think-about-this-weekend.html ) We wish him luck as the most likely new Speaker of the House...
He has his work cut out for him!

We would be remiss if we did not mention that Hilary Clinton made the Benghazi committee republicans cry like a little girl and look like two year old children  having a tantrum what with all the yelling and red faces;
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/benghazi-committee-hillary_56292597e4b0aac0b8fc14ef
Maybe they would have gotten further if they had acted like grown ups.

And musically...Adel released a track from her new album, have a listen; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQHsXMglC9A

                                    Wordy Wednesday...

                                 Find A Better Argument!

First off we want to say how sad we are about the incident in Roseburg, Oregon. We know Roseburg well and have good friends there and have spent a lot of time there. It's a beautiful little place where there are really great people and our thoughts and prayers are with them...

There are those who will say to own and keep guns is their right. Okay.
But why does their right to own a gun trump everyone else's rights?
What about Betty's right to feel like she can send her kids to school and they won't be shot?
What about Bill's right to go to the movies and not be gunned down?

The problem with this conversation is with rights come responsibilities our favorite part of the second amendment is where it says; well regulated right to bear arms.
The conversation seems to have shifted to now be,"there will always be crazy people and criminals who will get their hands on guns." Those are the people we need to worry about.

Not the five year old child who gets up where his mother put her gun because she didn't think he could reach it but little Johnny took that gun and shoot his brother Jeffery who was three just the same...not crazy not a criminal?

Or what about the man down the street who helps you move your garbage cans back to the house from the sidewalk who one day has too much to drink and in the middle of an argument with his wife grabs his gun and shoots her. He isn't crazy he's drunk and angry.
What about all the road rage shootings? Here's a hint: 99.9% of those shootings are based in anger and rage at something completely different than the person who is shot. No criminal no crazy...

More people are shot everyday by someone they know or love than all the mass shootings so lets quit pretending that this epidemic of gun violence is only criminals and crazy people.

This brings me to the other part of this argument I just don't get...
What is it with this whole paranoid delusion that the government is coming to get our guns so we have to go out and buy more guns?
When did the government try to take your guns?
Have they ever tried? Ever?

As far as I know they would only try to take your guns if you broke the law.
But according to gun owners that would OK with them because then you would be a criminal and criminals shouldn't have guns...remember?

I know,"guns don't kill people, people kill people." Yes, but they are people with guns!
You would have a hard time convincing me that the same amount of people would be dead if a person had to expend the energy and commitment it would take to say bludgeon a person to death.
Most people wouldn't bother, it's too much work.
But to pull a trigger? It only takes one second...

Like I said...you need to find a better argument!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

                    A WORD OR TWO ON WEDNESDAY...

I find it ironic that in the week preceding the first visit by the Pope that these are the headlines we are seeing;

First there was Donald trump and the guy at his town hall meeting;
http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/17/politics/donald-trump-obama-muslim-new-hampshire/index.html

Then Sunday on Meet The Press, there was Ben Carson;
 http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2015/09/20/ben-carson-says-a-muslim-shouldnt-be-president-many-americans-agree/

Of course with 1 in 3 Americans (not republicans...Americans!) believing still that the president is a Muslim I guess I shouldn't be surprised...
 http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/09/13/cnn-poll-nearly-1-in-3-americans-believe-obama-is-a-muslim/

It seems odd to me that with the framers trying so hard to make sure that religion and politics were not intertwined that we have come to this point in our history where a lot of the people and politician's do not seem to understand the principals this country was actually founded upon.
 Instead it seems we have reached a point where individual interpretation is the only prerequisite to state your personal version of the facts...
I have always been fascinated by those who invoke God or Jesus  as justification for their own personal opinions and actions.

I don't believe any one religion is better than another or more legitimate or more American.
It seems to me that faith should be a comfort and not a weapon...

In case anyone is truly interested you can read what the constitution
actually says about the separation of church and state and religious freedom;
http://kids.laws.com/first-amendment  ( we put a link to the kid's version so it's really easy to understand )

Those are my words for Wednesday...
I thought they were important to put out there.

The first is one put out by republican candidate Carly Fiorina  in response to Donald Trumps remarks on her face ( if you don't know about this check it out here; http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-09-10/rolling-stone-donald-trump-mocked-carly-fiorina-s-looks )
So...this was Fiorina's excellent response;

Next up this ad was put out by Priories USA invoking the spirit of Ronald Regan;
http://www.politico.com/story/2015/09/clinton-priorities-ad-reagan-republicans-213670

And finally, Mexico got a chance to blast Donald Trump on his immigration remarks in this ad for the Mexico vs. USA soccer match; http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/09/politics/donald-trump-mexican-soccer-ad/

But lastly we would be remiss if we didn't include, just for fun, Jimmy Fallon as Donald Trump talking to Hillary Clinton;   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONRQZshyrPI

PS. Hope these made you smile, get well soon Lenora...

This Weeks Sticky Paws and Hairballs vs. Fuzzy Hugs and Kitty Kisses brings you the letter D... D is for diplomacy!

So I have been reading the papers and watching the news trying to figure out where I stand on this whole Iran Nuclear Deal thing...Personally if it keeps us from going into yet another war, I think it's a good idea to give it a try.
So a big Fuzzy Hug to John Kerry, the Prez and all those who made this possible.
Congress has voted as we come to you, so it seems this is a done deal. And now we could be looking at  one of the most significant diplomatic negotiations in our history.
No matter what your opinion on the subject, watch this video;

If you are not familiar with the components of the deal check this out; http://www.huffingtonpost.com/alon-benmeir/the-good-the-bad-and-the_b_7849296.html

Next up, a huge Kitty Kiss to our own VP! We love Joe Biden because he is the most candid and authentic guy around;  http://www.businessinsider.com/joe-biden-stephen-colbert-interview-is-why-he-should-run-2015-9  (better get out the Kleenex for this one)

Moving on, a big Sticky Paw to all the trash talk coming from The Donald! Seems there is no one he won't insult. "Hey Donald...do you kiss your mother with that mouth?"
In  case you missed them here are 2 count them two videos of impersonations of The Donald.
The first is President Obama calling Donald with tips for being on The Late Show; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp3dzTW523I
The second is Donald preparing for his interview with Jimmy Fallon; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2DgwPG7mAA

And last, a big Fuzzy Hug to rabbits...seems diplomacy isn't just for the humans. Even rabbits have disagreements; http://www.viralnova.com/bunny-fight/?mb=aol&icid=maing-grid7%7Caol20-g%7Cdl11%7Csec1_lnk2%26pLid%3D-1808505884
