The wrongness of being right...

So, we went into watching this debate with very low expectations of it being significant in any meaningful way.
We figured both candidates would be on their best behavior each trying to be more likeable and acceptable than the other so that in the end they would cancel each other out and it would be nothing short of boring.

We were wrong.

And that brings me to exactly where I need to be...

Okay. I admit it, I have a problem with Donald Trump.
No, it's not political and it's not his stance on any particular issue nor is it the fact that he's a Republican ( which a lot of Republicans would argue he's not ).
It's not even his hair ( okay that was a cheap shot ).
No, my problem with Donald Trump is something much more basic.
I think I can best explain by telling you a little story about one of the humans fathers...

The man could never be wrong. Period!

About anything, EVER!

He'd sooner chew off his own leg rather than admit he'd made a mistake or was wrong.

It didn't need to be anything important, it could be some little inconsequential thing he'd heard or read
or just thought about.
But if you chose to contradict him he'd fight you to the death, never mind that in doing so he was so vehement that people got hurt, relationships were destroyed and friendships were all but lost in the destruction.
In the end he died alone and with very few tears being shed in his memory.

There is something to be said for being big enough to admit when you are wrong.
After all we all are from time to time usually more times than not.

But there are those individuals who for whatever reason, can't or won't just let it go.

And that is Donald Trumps biggest down fall.

And that is what, if you were watching objectively you witnessed on full display last night.

A man so obsessed with his own perception of himself, so intent on his own " self righteousness "
that he would rather defend the most petty untruth than ever admit he was mistaken no matter what the price he has to pay in the end.

Mrs. Clinton was able to just step back and watch her opponent implode on his own, all the while appearing congenial and presidential and very confident.
She communicated with intelligence and decisiveness and whether you agree with her politics or not
she was the only grownup on that stage.

So, there you have it, that's our humble opinion...and who knows, perhaps we're wrong.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

... I like when Hillary told him he was living in his own particular reality!!! I'm not convinced she had the genuine upper hand in debate terms, but no matter how restrained he tried to be, the T-man just prove yet again he's a broken record. ... and now we hear he is complaining that he wasn't asked the right questions.

SAY WHAT??!!! Hugs and whiskeries, dear Noodle. YAM-aunty xxx

  2. The debate was difficult to watch. Neither of these candidates are really all of that good at debate. Hillary Clinton was very robotic - one of her biggest downfalls as a public speaker. She had basically the same tone of voice and look on her face throughout the whole debate. Donald Trump let himself get thrown off topic with nearly every question and he didn't take a lot of the wide open opportunities to make a point that he was given. It showed him as a real novice when it comes to debate. The moderator didn't even try to conceal the fact that he was slanting things in Hillary's favor. I hope that the next debate is better.

  5. Spot on! It also reminded us a bit like putting two cats in a room together. They can "get along" but any little thing might set them off. You tell them the rules, be nice, and they look at you as though you are wasting your breath. "Of course, we'll be nice." And then, one of them shows a different version of what Be Nice means. Chaos, and it's always the humans' fault for putting them together in the first place. MOL!

  8. I agree with you Noodle. The faces he makes when Hillary speaks drives me crazy and I don't like how he speaks over her and interrupts when it is her turn.

  11. Clinton handed Trump a shovel and he dug a hole for himself furiously. And he hasn't stopped digging the hole deeper yet.

  12. My Dad was an Mechanical Engineer. He was always right. It didn't matter what the subject was, from Modern Art to ancient Greek philosophy. If anyone uttered a statement, he had an opinion (lack of information notwithstanding) he was right.

So I learned (in self-defense) to learn something about nearly everything. As years went by, Dad would express an errent statement (the cause of a war, the cause of an economic recession, the cause of an epidemic, the cause of a social problem, whatever, I contested.

Because he was always wrong about anything other that engineering.

He hated it when I used to bring out the encyclopedias. But the internet finally made him give up to me. His false ideas of facts gave way to provable immediate information.

He hated that. Well, what he hated was I always had facts at hand. And I don't mean "convenient facts" from biased sites. I always showed him they were supported by respectable university or professional sites.

  13. VERY well put, Noodle.

And you know, we're all wrong at times. Yup, all of us. Cats and peeps alike. To think otherwise is to think we're gods or somethin' and although we cats have been worshipped as such, we really know we're not. That one, though... That one with the hair... He knows no such thing. Good thing WE KNOW BETTER. MOUSES!
