Georgia on my mind...

The democratic party seems to be in the midst of an identity crisis.

They were so optimistic that they could turn Georgia's sixth district from red to blue.

They were also pretty optimistic about turning the house when Hillary won.
We all know how that turned out.

Now they are scrambling to find a message that resonates with voters.

They are debating ousting Nancy Pelosi as leader.

They talk endlessly about new blood within the party.

Getting rid of the older more established names and replacing them with fresh new faces.

Okay democrats, take a deep breath and take a step back because you might be about to walk off a cliff!

Using you own reasoning, ask yourself how that scenario worked for the republicans.

How young is Mr. Trump?
Fact: older than Hillary which by the way was one of your arguments for her defeat.
.
Second, she had too much baggage and name recognition.

Who won again?

Only the guy with more name recognition and more baggage.

I can tell you why I think people aren't that excited about the democratic party these days.

Because no one can find it!

Over the years it has morphed from being the party of the working class to the party of we're not the republicans!

That's not enough!

You have to actually be more than just not the republicans.

I'll give you an example;

Seven hundred eighth graders in a deep blue city agreed to express their concerns about what was going on in politics.

They worked for almost a week taking a chance and putting their thoughts their fears their hopes and dreams out in the open for everyone to see.

All they wanted was someone who represented their community, their city, their state to say " I hear you and you matter".

No one did.

Their concerns fell on deaf DEMOCRATIC ears.

Local politicians just couldn't be bothered to connect with the people.

People who reached out.

Future voters!

And that's a problem. A BIG problem that the democrats need to address.

But... at least they're not the republicans, right?

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. I've always considered politics a necessary evil in a democracy. I guess because I grew up in a politically active family. They made me be a Young Citizen For Johnson at the 1964 Democratic Convention. I hated it. Yes, I've always voted and I've tried to study the candidates and have voted across party lines. However, now I'm considering getting involved. This President's conduct is disgusting and I'm sick and tired of his rants and lies. This 4th of July I'm going to be celebrating this great country (it's always been great) and the fact that we have freedom of the press.

  4. Oh, you hit nails on the heads so often. Now hear this: If you can get hold of or have seen West Wing, the most incredible series TV about Washington and the presidency, WATCH IT NOW. You will be addicted. And WHY on earth can't our politician take some little dabs and bits from that show, I don't know. So incredibly intelligent.
Martin Sheen for president!!! We just got it this year and can't stop. Every night, two episodes.

  7. We say the Dems should say what they are FOR, not against. The Repubs will sink themselves with mean laws and Trump. We think "identity politics" are causing problems. So we say Dems should suggest things that help everyone.

There is a time for new leadership. It should be carefully considered, but Dems have to relate to younger voters. Existing Dem leadership is dedicated and experienced, but new voters of all groups of people need to see themselves in the leadership.
