After a bruising couple of weeks and no relief on the horizon we were amazed to read this.
Forget Russia.
Forget all the lurid scandals.
Even putting aside collusion and obstruction of justice
Tariffs are ripping apart the heartland and farmers are having to take bailouts!
Other businesses are just being left to their own devices to sink or swim.
There is no wall.
Prices are rising.
This is everything Trump voters were against.
This is everything they were angry about.
So where is this coming from?????
Will someone please explain this to me?
And back then we all thought this was just hyperbole.

ReplyDeleteFrom tomorrow, the BBC is running a 3-parter fronted by one of our ex-politicians where he goes into the heartland of Trump voters to try and figure out...W.H.Y???!!! I doubt very much that any of it will affect my opinion, but any insight into the psychology of such voters might (I say might) help quell the rising bile. Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx

ReplyDeleteI am more puzzled everyday about the taste and intelligence of the American public. And the poor farmers, the businesses, the immigrant families, what on earth could they be thinking?
ReplyDeleteHas everyone simply become inured to decency? Does anyone know the word anyway?
Mom and dad are trying desperately to figure this out as well. They just end up shaking their heads. I recently overheard them discussing Lee Greenwood's "Proud to be an American", and saying how one person has made so many feel almost shameful to be saying that these days.

ReplyDeleteI feel ashamed along with and for many of my friends in America that are subjected to this and will suffer from this, and the more I read the more upset I get. You are not alone and at least the US only has one in charge, we have a bunch of them and no one is in charge let alone has a reasoned argument or policy, and are too darned scared to stand up and say they got it wrong and screwed the country....
