Here are a few numbers to think about.
There have been 215 days in 2019.
There have been 241 mass shootings in 2019.
Not just shootings, mass shootings!
Yesterday we learned of the horrific events in El Paso, Texas.
Less than 14 hours had passed before this happened.
We are going to run this same post every time there is another mass shooting.
Whether it be in a school or at a concert.
In a church or a Mosque or a shopping mall or movie theater.
Wouldn't it be great to not ever have to post it again?
Wouldn't it be great if someone finally listened and did something?
From our February 16th 2018 post;
More bullets.
More blood.
More deaths.
More victims.
More carnage.
More terror.
More fear.
More horror.
More disbelief
More tears.
More grief.
More sadness.
More loss.
More broken lives.
More anger.
More outrage.
More questions.
More "whys"?
More funeral's
More names on the list
More condolences
More speeches
More "hearts and prayers are with you".
More, "this is not the time".
More excuses.
More inaction.
More guns.
More campaign donations...
Have a peaceful Sunday...

ReplyDeletePlease understand that I hope never to have to read this post again... &*< YAM xx
You are so right, Noodle, but some humans do not see it as a need, just a fact of life. For everyone else, for the humans and those other creations of God, it is a curse and a crime that is unparralled.
ReplyDeleteI hope I never see the post repeated—but I bet we will. . .
God bless the good folk, creatures of creation one and all—my friends—no matter where they may be.

ReplyDeleteI just heard about that on the black moving screen. I don't understand why there are so many bad humans that want to put harm to others. It makes my heart hurt.

I said on FB that the USA must be a terrible place for this to happen so often. Some people got really annoyed by that. Sorry but NZ banned semi automatic rifles within months of our first (and only) mass shooting (in spite of the NRA trying to interfere....)
ReplyDeleteThis isn't a subject for discussion with the gun lobby anymore. They whine about civil liberties and the 'right to bear arms' and outside the USA people shake their heads in bafflement.
When the US started, guns were slow to be loaded, were rather inaccurate, and there was no standing army. States had militias in case of minor attacks and those muskets were usually kept in armories. Individuals had muskets, but were careful about annunition because it was hard to get sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSo, The Founding Fathers wrote the rules about guns with State milias in mind to be called upon for national defence when necessary.
Yesterday is not today. The original rules about guns no longer apply. The idea that some madman would take a musket and start shooting people nearby was not only unthinkable, it was almost impossible. After the first shot, everyone nearby would have just taken the musket from the shooter and hauled his ass into jail and then hanged him.
They didn't imagine modern military weapons. Had they, I'm sure they would have made some distinction between a guy owning a gun to shoot a deer for the family dinner and some machine gun.
I get some relief reading that the NRA is falling apart. As the major political force defending "any weapon any time", their gradual self-destruction is only good for the nation.
I have read some suggestions that the NRA is considering no longer objecting to some reasonable gun-control measures. One can only hope that is true.
We need to reach those who do NOT get it!!! And they do not read these blogs, alas
ReplyDeleteI think we should legislate evil. That would solve all these issues in one fell swoop
ReplyDeleteSomething has to change.
